- The UAE club, Dubai United FC, and the Spanish League (La Liga) revealed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two parties. The agreement was signed between the two parties during an event held in Dubai, on Tuesday, in the presence of LaLiga President Javier Tebas and Dubai United FC President Elie Sebano.
According to the Spanish League’s statement, this agreement represents “a new phase of the club’s institutional growth in cooperation with LaLiga, with the aim of strengthening its work system outside the field and developing the necessary capabilities to compete and work more efficiently,” after its rise to the UAE Professional League. The association explained that the agreement “will focus on key areas for developing the club’s professional work, including marketing, branding, content, fan experience on match days, hospitality, and interaction with fans.”
The association continued: “The LaLiga office in the Middle East and North Africa region will implement the program, with the support of the specialized LaLiga team in Madrid.” The association continued: “LaLiga, through its club office, has implemented more than 272 consulting projects specifically designed to identify the specific needs of each club and provide solutions that suit its challenges and goals.”
She continued: “This achievement reflects LaLiga’s firm commitment to providing specialized, continuous and direct support to its clubs, within an approach based on cooperation and knowledge exchange, which is the same approach that will form the basis of this project with the Emirati club.” Commenting on the agreement, Tebas said: “The management model we have built in collaboration with our clubs is one of LaLiga’s most important assets, and through the Club Office, we work daily with the 42 clubs in LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion, in areas including commercial strategy, brand building, content and fan experience.”
He added: "Today we are transferring these experiences to Dubai United FC. The club's rise to the UAE Professional League makes this stage an ideal time to take this step. Our goal is to help the club develop its own capabilities to enable it to compete and grow independently." Sebano, President of Dubai United FC, said: “Our partnership with LaLiga represents an important milestone in the club’s journey and in our long-term vision for the future. After our promotion to the UAE Professional League, we are entering a new phase of growth on and off the field. This cooperation will allow us to benefit from the extensive experience that LaLiga has in club management, commercial development, brand building, and interaction with fans.”
Eli Sebano explained: “Our ambition is to build a strong and sustainable club that is managed according to the highest professional standards, contributes to the continued development of UAE football, and enhances its growing presence on the international scene.” Dubai United FC, under the leadership of Italian coach Andrea Pirlo, is in ninth place on the UAE Professional League standings, with 7 points after 6 rounds.
