The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority (UKMTO) announced on Tuesday that it had received a report of an incident involving a tanker and military forces about 121 nautical miles east of the city of Duqm in the Sultanate of Oman.
The authority explained, in a statement, that initial reports indicate that the tanker was subjected to an interaction within ongoing military activity in the region, stressing that the relevant authorities are aware of the incident and that the relevant investigations are still ongoing.
The Authority called on ships operating in the region to review the latest maritime security information and remain aware of the evolving operational environment.
Since the outbreak of war at the end of last February, Iran has greatly disrupted traffic through threats and attacks on ships. US forces also repeatedly attacked Iranian ships.
