- Tenerife club player, Jesús de Miguel, suffered a serious injury during the match against Andorra club, at the first stadium, on Monday, in the 12th round of the second division Spanish League. In stoppage time, when the score was tied at 2/2, Andorra club goalkeeper, Jesús Auno, tried to kick an air ball from outside the penalty area and near the middle of the field.
Then, Jesús Auno's knee collided strongly with the chest and head of Jesús de Miguel, who was trying to get the ball, causing the latter to fall to the ground. The Tenerife club player lost consciousness without any movement, suffering from a heart attack, then the medical team intervened to treat him before he was transported via ambulance to the hospital, which prompted referee Manuel Hernandez to show the red card to Jesus Auno and blow the final whistle shortly before it ended.
The Tenerife club said through its account on the “X” platform that Jesus de Miguel is in the hospital’s intensive care unit, noting that “his condition is stable, but still serious.” Real Madrid FC expressed its solidarity with the player, as he said in a blog post: “All our support for Jesus de Miguel in these very difficult moments. The club wishes him a speedy recovery.”
