Daqran: The Occupation's Talk About Weapons in Hospitals is Justification for Resuming Bombing Them

Gaza - Afaq News - Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, spokesperson for health in Gaza, expressed his astonishment at the return of the Israeli occupation once again through its spokespeople with a series of false and misleading claims, alleging the presence of armed individuals or the storage of weapons inside hospitals and health facilities.

Al-Daqran denied, in a press conference held at the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, the repeated allegations in detail, confirming that the recycling of these flimsy pretexts is nothing but the fabrication of false justifications aimed at covering the Israeli war machine and paving the way for the continued undermining and destruction of what remains of the health infrastructure.

He added: "These misleading claims, which are repeated in a systematic manner, come at a time when the aggression enters its fourth consecutive year of systematic medical extermination and direct targeting of the health system in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the destruction of most hospitals and rendering them out of service, and the obliteration of health capabilities that were built over decades."

He emphasized that the recycling of these pretexts at this time is nothing but a blatant attempt to create a media cover and flimsy justifications for the Israeli war machine, paving the way for the continued undermining of what remains of the health system and attacking what remains of hospitals and medical centers.

He stated that what exists inside hospitals and public medical centers today is nothing but wounded individuals and patients fighting for their lives, along with medical and humanitarian staff working under the lowest capabilities and resources and in extremely harsh exceptional conditions to provide the minimum medical care amidst a severe shortage of medicines and healthcare requirements.

He pointed out that the Israeli occupation has not only imposed a suffocating siege, preventing the entry of medicine and medical supplies, and obstructing the travel of thousands of injured and sick individuals to receive treatment abroad, but insists on continuing to pursue healthcare even in its last remaining sanctuaries.

He reiterated his full assurance that the doors of all hospitals and health facilities have been, and still are, open without exception to all international organizations, UN institutions, human rights and humanitarian organizations, to enter and closely observe the nature of the work inside them, and to verify these false claims, with the constant evidence that these facilities only carry the pains of our people and the message of our humanitarian staff.

He called on the international community, UN institutions, human rights organizations, and all free people of the world, to urgently and immediately intervene to halt the Israeli destruction machine, provide effective and direct international protection for medical staff and institutions, and stop the systematic disinformation policy that legitimizes the shedding of the blood of the injured and medical staff inside what remains of treatment places.
