Demanding an investigation committee.. The mother of a former Israeli prisoner shouts at Netanyahu: “You killed my son.”

Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Ma'in Sherman, the mother of Israeli soldier Ron Sherman, who was detained in the Gaza Strip and killed by suffocation inside a Hamas tunnel, confronted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today, Wednesday, in a shopping center in the city of Beersheba, and shouted at him, saying: "You killed my son." She also directed insults at him and demanded the formation of an official investigation committee to examine the failures that preceded the October 7 attack.

Sherman said that she came to the place to confront Netanyahu, adding: “For three years he has been running away from me, and is afraid to approach me. I finally had the opportunity to meet him face to face to tell him what I think about him.”

She accused Netanyahu of abandoning 43 Israeli detainees in captivity, and said that her son was working within the "unit coordinating the actions of the Israeli government in the territories," wondering about the circumstances of his killing.

She added that her son Ron transferred the bags of dollars to Yahya Sinwar on orders from Netanyahu, and she asked: “How is it possible that I would have to pursue Netanyahu in order to talk to him?”

An Israeli army investigation concluded that Soldier Ron Sherman, Private Nick Beiser, and Elijah Toledano, who were detained in the Gaza Strip during the attack of October 7, 2023, and whose bodies returned to Israel in December of the same year, died of suffocation as a result of the spread of gas inside the tunnel in which they were detained, following an attack carried out by the Israeli army.

The families of the dead and detainees demand an official investigation committee

In a related context, the “October Council”, which includes prisoners released by the resistance and the families of those killed and survivors of the October 7 attack, held a press conference at the Peres Center for Innovation and Peace in Jaffa on Wednesday evening, to demand the formation of an official investigation committee into the failures that preceded the attack.

Esther Buchstab, the mother of Yagiv Buchstab, who was detained in the Gaza Strip and killed during his captivity, said that her son was kidnapped alive from his home, but was returned inside a black bag, adding that others did not return to their homes, but to the cemeteries.

She added that she had lost confidence in the Israeli leadership, accusing it of avoiding providing real answers and bearing responsibility for what happened, and building narratives to exonerate itself and fuel division.

For his part, Eyal Ashal, the father of the Israeli soldier Roni Ashal, who was killed in the control room at the Nahal Oz base on the morning of October 7, displayed his daughter’s military hat, saying that it had become the only material relic left of it.

Ashel asked about the reasons for leaving his daughter and her colleagues at the base unprotected, even though they saw the warning indicators, reported them, and performed their duties. He also demanded the disclosure of all recordings and answers related to the warnings that preceded the attack, the parties that received them, and those responsible for dealing with them.

Sister of one of the prisoners: The house is empty and the cemetery is full

In turn, Ofri Bibbs, the sister of Yarden Bibbs, who was released from captivity, attacked Netanyahu on the grounds that he said that all the detainees had returned to their homes.

She said that her brother's wife, Sherry, and their two children, Ariel and Kfir, were killed during their detention in the Gaza Strip, wondering about the house to which her brother returned, in the absence of his wife and two children.

She added: "Yarden returned from captivity, but he was no longer the same, and he did not return to his previous life. He returned to a house without his wife, without his two children, and without the family he had built. Sheri, Ariel, and Kfir did not return to the house, but were returned for burial. Three graves instead of a family, and the grave is not a home."

She continued that the loss is not limited to the lives lost by the family, but also includes all the years, occasions, holidays and embraces that its members will not experience together, adding: “The Prime Minister can write that everyone has returned home, but our house is empty and the cemetery is full.”
