Spanish coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro, the former coach of the Saudi national team, recalled the memories of the time he spent with the "Green" and reaching the Gulf Cup final in 2014 "Gulf 22", directing three pieces of advice to the players of the "Green" before the current edition's final on Tuesday against the UAE.

The Saudi national team, led by Greek Georgios Donis, will play against the UAE, led by Croatian Zlatko Dalic, in the final on Tuesday at the Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah.

Lopez Caro previously coached the Saudi national team from 2013 until December 2014, before leaving his position after losing the Gulf Cup final to Qatar 2-1 in Riyadh.

Lopez Caro said in exclusive statements to "Al Arabiya.net": I remember that tournament with a lot of love and pride. We had a very young team, but it had a clear personality, ambition, and football identity.

He added about the 3-2 victory over the UAE in the 2014 semi-final: Despite the young age of the team, I believe we were better than the UAE in almost all aspects of the game, and looking at the football we played and the level we showed, the victory was clearly deserved. It was an extremely exciting match and an experience that will always remain in my memory.

The Spanish coach spoke about his relationship with Saudi Arabia, saying: I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who trusted me and gave me the opportunity to work in Saudi Arabia. It is a country that I feel is my own, and I have lived unforgettable experiences there, and I have formed personal and professional relationships that will last forever.

He continued: I have many friends there whom I consider my brothers, and my love and gratitude for them and for Saudi Arabia are absolute. My commitment on both personal and professional levels has always been at its highest.

Lopez Caro gave three pieces of advice to the Saudi national team before the Gulf Cup final on Tuesday, based on his experience in the 2014 final, saying: If I could go back to the night of that final against Qatar, instead of changing a specific tactical decision, I would have focused more on reinforcing the pillars that make the difference when the competition is at its highest levels.

He explained: When the confrontation is as evenly matched as possible, the sum of details, which are often related to execution or unexpected individual factors, is what ultimately determines the direction of the match towards victory or defeat.

He added: Looking at the final on Tuesday and based on that experience, I believe that Saudi Arabia should pay special attention to three essential aspects. The first is absolute focus on individual details; in light of the significant parity, any mistake or moment of individual brilliance can determine the fate of the match, and minimizing unjustified errors and exploiting every small opportunity will be crucial.

He continued: The second aspect is to present an ideal collective competitive level. When it comes to a title like the Gulf Cup, commitment, cohesion, and competitive spirit as a team are non-negotiable matters, and the national team must give one hundred percent of its capabilities throughout the match.

Lopez Caro concluded his remarks about the third factor by saying: Mental strength and a sense of responsibility are essential. Players must enter the field aware that such opportunities do not come every day. There is an entire country supporting them and waiting for them to give their best, and not rising to the level of responsibility leaves a mark that remains in history, while the glory of giving everything lasts forever.
