- The Secretary-General of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, sent a message to American officials in the administration of President Donald Trump, after the Republicans lost the majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives to the Democrats in the midterm elections. Mohsen Rezaei said in his message to American officials, which he published on his official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter, on Saturday: “You have lost both the war and the elections. Vance has acknowledged defeat, Rubio is about to leave, and Hegseth will be removed from his position soon, and the commander of the US Central Command has now become a podcast presenter!”, according to his description, and according to what was reported by the official Iranian “IRNA” news agency.

Mohsen Rezaei concluded his post by saying: “To whom should we deliver this message in Washington specifically, that if you start a war, you will face a devastating response?”, as he put it. Mohsen Rezaei recently wrote in a blog post on his account on the “X” platform: “America’s response to Iran’s rights and demands was not satisfactory, as it must fully and frankly address the seven conditions set by Iran, and act according to them.”

The Iranian official warned that any move against his country would be met with a military response, saying: “If any action is taken against the country, we - in accordance with the directives of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces - will deliver crushing blows to the aggressor using new weapons.” Iran had demanded that Washington meet 7 conditions before Tehran reopened the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iranian officials and media, these demands include, among other things, the United States lifting the naval blockade on Iranian ports, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and ending the war “on all fronts.” US Vice President J.D. Vance held the war with Iran directly responsible for the extremely poor performance of the Republicans in the midterm elections.

Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett is facing moves to impeach him by the US Congress, holding him responsible for the outcome of the war with Iran. The results of the midterm elections indicate that Democrats may achieve their largest majority in the US House of Representatives since the early 1990s, as their number of seats may exceed 260 seats.
