At a time when the Lebanese government called for activating the framework agreement with Israel, Israeli forces launched airstrikes on areas in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, resulting in the injury of four people, including a Lebanese soldier with serious wounds, continuing the field violations despite the ceasefire agreement being in effect.
Furthermore, a correspondent for Al Arabiya/Al Hadath reported that the Israeli airstrikes targeted the Mansouri and Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa areas in southern Lebanon, while an Israeli drone carried out a strike on Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa around 8:30 AM.
In addition, the Lebanese army revealed that a soldier was seriously injured due to an Israeli targeting of a military vehicle in the Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa area, noting that three civilians were injured as a result of the same targeting, according to a statement published on the 'X' platform.
These airstrikes came at a time when Israeli attacks on areas in southern Lebanon continue, despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah being in effect since June 21, amid ongoing field tensions and disputes regarding the implementation of agreements related to the security situation in the border area.
A few hours ago, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called for the activation of the framework agreement that was concluded between Lebanon and Israel, emphasizing during his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio the "necessity to move to the activation phase of the tripartite framework and translate the principles of reciprocity and gradualism into practical steps and tangible results on the ground, leading to the restoration of Lebanon's full sovereignty, achieving the complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories, and restricting arms to the state across its entire territory."
It is worth noting that Lebanon entered the war on March 2, after Hezbollah launched missiles towards Israel, claiming it was in response to the killing of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei in the initial U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28. In return, Israel responded with an intensive airstrike campaign, accompanied by a ground incursion of its forces into southern Lebanon, where it took control of dozens of towns and villages and carried out extensive demolition operations in the areas it occupied.
Subsequently, the pace of confrontations decreased after a memorandum of understanding was reached between the United States and Iran in June, coinciding with the signing of a framework agreement by the Lebanese and Israeli governments, under U.S. sponsorship, which stipulated the disarmament of Hezbollah and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territories they occupy in southern Lebanon, in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army, starting in specific areas on a trial basis.
As part of these understandings, the Lebanese army was deployed in July in the town of Zawtar al-Gharbi, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its outskirts, and it also reinforced its presence in the towns of Sarafand and Frun, without reaching an agreement on additional areas.
Despite this, Israel continues to carry out airstrikes on southern Lebanon and conduct demolition and blasting operations in the towns it still occupies.
