The Lebanese presidency said in a post on the “X” platform on Saturday that a Lebanese military delegation will present Beirut’s demands to end Israeli attacks in Lebanon, during a tripartite meeting held in Tampa, Florida, on October 20.
Lebanon and Israel have held several rounds of direct talks in recent months with the aim of ending hostilities since the outbreak of a new war between Israel and Hezbollah on March 2, which sparked the broader conflict in the region.
The presidential circular stated: “The Lebanese military delegation will participate in the tripartite meeting in Tampa on October 20, to put Lebanese demands to stop the Israeli escalation on the table, in the hope of achieving results consistent with the framework agreement.”
Under an agreement reached through American-brokered Israeli-Lebanese talks, Beirut pledged to disarm Hezbollah, which in turn would have led to the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon.
The party refuses to give up its weapons in light of the Israeli forces remaining on Lebanese territory while Israel continues to launch attacks on southern Lebanon.
