Mahmoud Allan: We are preparing to hold an exhibition of Palestinian heritage products in the Sultanate of Oman

Hebron - Ofoq News - The Municipality of Beit Ummar, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Culture, and the North Hebron Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, organized a heritage market in the town, with the participation of about 30 participants from the people of Beit Ummar, with the aim of highlighting heritage food products, handicrafts, and local economic and agricultural activities.

The head of the North Hebron Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Mahmoud Allan, said during his tour of the exhibition that the chamber pays attention to Palestinian heritage products, in appreciation of the efforts of self-reliant families who work to produce goods that provide them with sources of income that help them secure a decent living.

Allan added that the market displayed products that express Palestinian history and heritage, including the foods that our ancestors were famous for, stressing that the Chamber will work to support these products and open new markets for them, including foreign markets, indicating that the Sultanate of Oman will be one of the targeted destinations for marketing Palestinian heritage products.

For her part, the head of the Beit Ummar Food Processing Association, Fatna Breghith, said that the association benefited from the Italian “Enable” project, in cooperation with the North Hebron Chamber of Commerce, by rehabilitating the food manufacturing kitchen, adding a roof and floors, and providing a modern grape juicer that contributed to developing work and increasing production within the association.

Brigheth explained that the new juicer can squeeze about a ton of grapes per hour, which contributed to improving the association’s ability to receive customers and provide services to male and female farmers in the town, especially those who face difficulties in marketing the grape crop.

She added that the association now receives farmers’ grapes for pressing and turning them into molasses, which has contributed to increasing production and the number of customers, and enhancing the association’s role in serving the local community and supporting farmers in benefiting from their crops.

In turn, the Mayor of Beit Ummar, Engineer Muhammad Awad, stressed the strength of the relationship with the North Hebron Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, expressing his thanks to the Chamber for its support and sponsorship of the heritage market.

Awad pointed out that the market was being organized for the first time in the town in this way, with the participation of about 30 participants from the people of Beit Ummar, explaining that the municipality had sent invitations to participate to neighboring villages, but the focus in this edition was on highlighting the economic and agricultural activities and handicrafts of the people of the town.

He stressed that the market represents an opportunity to introduce local products and highlight the capabilities of productive families, farmers and craftsmen, which contributes to supporting the local economy and opening new horizons for marketing Palestinian products.
