Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian considered that the success of the talks with the United States to end the war remains subject to their conduct in the absence of “pressure and threats.”
In his speech during the CIS summit in Turkmenistan on Friday, Pezeshkyan said, "Dialogue does not gain meaning and have no chances of success unless it is based on mutual respect and mutual commitments."
He also added that negotiation is meaningless "if it is not free of pressure and threats."
Yesterday, Thursday, US President Donald Trump spoke of “fruitful discussions” with Tehran, while ruling out launching a new attack on it before the midterm elections. Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: “We are having fruitful discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He also added, "I want to make clear to everyone that at a time when Iran is suffering from a very bad situation, economically and militarily, and while the American naval blockade will remain imposed with full force... we will not launch an attack before the midterm elections that will be held in the United States on November 3."
These statements came as informed American sources confirmed that the Pentagon had prepared a plan and several options to strike Iran, and presented them to the US President.
She also indicated that among the options was the possibility of carrying out focused strikes on Iranian sites before the elections.
The sources indicated that the current plan may revolve around a short and intense military campaign that will last about 3 days, and focus on targeting Iranian missiles and drones, a large part of which the Revolutionary Guard has rebuilt since the early stages of the war. The list of potential targets also includes Iranian energy facilities and command centers of the Revolutionary Guard.
While Tehran continued to stress that it is committed to continuing indirect negotiations, away from threats and pressure to make concessions.
Iranian officials also stressed at the same time that they are ready to repel and respond to any new attack.
