Rezaei: Iran refuses to open the Strait of Hormuz and resume negotiations before implementing its seven conditions

Tehran - Ofoq News - The Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, confirmed that Tehran will not resume negotiations with the United States, and will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, before implementing its seven conditions, stressing the need to ensure the implementation of the agreed-upon commitments before making any Iranian concessions.

Rezaei said, in an interview with the Drop Site website, the details of which were reported by media outlets, that the previous memorandum of understanding failed due to the wrong arrangement for implementing the obligations, adding that Iran will not repeat the previous experience, and that implementing its conditions must precede any new steps.

He explained that the Strait of Hormuz does not merely represent a clause in any potential agreement, but rather forms part of the guarantees necessary for its implementation, stressing that his country no longer accepts agreements that rely solely on political goodwill without practical guarantees.

Rezaei added that Washington's commitment to its pledges may open the way for the reopening of the Strait and the resumption of the diplomatic track, but he stressed that Tehran will not give up in advance the pressure cards it possesses.

In a related context, the Iranian official indicated that his country is holding dialogues with the Gulf states regarding establishing a regional security structure that prevents the region from turning into an arena of military confrontation.
