The Egyptian media figure Ahmed Shobair criticized the performance of his son, Mustafa Shobair, the goalkeeper of the Egyptian national team, following the Pharaohs' defeat against the South African team, confirming that the goalkeeper bears part of the responsibility alongside the defense for the tactical errors that appeared during the match.

Ahmed Shobair clarified, during his program on Sunday, that he evaluates matches with complete neutrality, away from family emotions, noting that Mustafa Shobair has shown good levels at certain times, but he made significant mistakes related to positioning, decision-making on crosses, and dealing with the opponent's attacking pressure.

Shobair the father also added: "Mustafa is a goalkeeper with great potential and is making steady progress, but wearing the national team jersey imposes strict standards; mistakes in international matches cost the team a lot, and objective evaluation is the only way to develop levels and rectify mistakes in the future."

The Egyptian national team concluded the last international break with a loss to South Africa by a goal to nil in the friendly match held at Cairo International Stadium, as part of the preparations for the upcoming challenges for both teams.

It is worth noting that the South African national team scored the only goal of the match in the 51st minute through Buso Dithiejane, after he took advantage of a counter-attack and a mistake by goalkeeper Mustafa Shobeir, before he dribbled past Egyptian defender Hossam Abdel-Meguid and shot the ball into the empty net.

It is noted that the Egyptian national team began the international break with a goalless draw against Angola in the first round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, before achieving a big victory over South Sudan with a score of five goals to nil away in the second round.
