Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Immediately after the elections, the race to form the government will begin, and if the matter is not resolved, both sides are planning a series of steps in anticipation of another election round. According to Israel TV.
The Likud Party intends to declare victory in the elections and demand a mandate to form the government, if the parties of the Eisenkot bloc do not obtain more than 61 seats. The announcement may include a statement that the victory is based on “party manifestos” rather than official data.
Meanwhile, the ruling party's campaign has prepared advance tweets titled "Allegations of fraud at the ballot box," to be submitted to the Election Commission tomorrow.
The party intends to invest significant resources in filing complaints regarding fears of violations at the ballot boxes, especially in the Arab sector, and is expected to file a large number of complaints. In some cases, these complaints may not be resolved until well after the election.
On the other hand, those close to Netanyahu are discussing whether there should be a warning about the “flux of Arabs to the polls” as in previous election campaigns, as a way to encourage right-wing voters - fearing that the campaign would actually encourage voting in the Arab community.
Meanwhile, the Change Alliance seeks to pass a series of laws in the Knesset to change the situation before another electoral round, by giving the president the power to issue a mandate.
Whoever holds this mandate can appoint the head of the organizing committee that sets the parliament’s agenda, in addition to the chairs of the committees. All this even if a government is not actually formed.
Within three months of assuming power, they will be able to enact the defendants' law that will prevent Netanyahu from running again, provided that the Supreme Court does not invalidate this law.
They would also be able to repeal Levin's legislation, form a government investigation committee, and perhaps enact a conscription law. Such steps could occur in the Knesset even if the government is not convinced.
