Trump warns again: We are tired of Iran and we may strike it harshly

US President Donald Trump renewed his warnings to Iran, stressing that “the United States is tired of it and intends to strike it harshly.”

Trump said during an election rally in Wasilla, Alaska, on Tuesday evening, “The war with Iran will end soon.”

He also reiterated that Tehran "will not possess a nuclear weapon."

These statements came in conjunction with American and Israeli sources revealing that the US President and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed, last week, the possibility of launching a new large-scale military operation against Iran, before the Israeli elections and the US midterm elections, according to what was reported by the Axios website. An Israeli official revealed that Netanyahu informed Trump, during a phone call, of his fears about Israeli intelligence indications that Tehran is taking worrying steps to rebuild its nuclear program.

While a source familiar with the discussions explained that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the leadership of US Central Command are among the most prominent supporters of resuming strikes, while most of Trump’s advisors prefer to continue economic sanctions and other forms of pressure at the current stage. They believe that tightening the economic screws will achieve increasing results, which supports continued pressure rather than an immediate return to war.

On the other hand, a White House official denied that Trump and Netanyahu had discussed resuming the war, and described this information as “incorrect,” stressing that the president announced not to attack Iran before the midterm elections.

The US President said to Republican Party supporters in Ohio the day before yesterday: “Iran does not have a leader now...it is a problem. Perhaps we should not have gone so far in our actions towards their leaders, because we do not know who we are dealing with.”

It is noteworthy that the United States and Israel launched massive attacks on Iran on February 28. Before last June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding calling for an immediate cessation of combat operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.

However, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed large-scale strikes against Iran, accusing it of violating the terms of the agreements concluded regarding the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 25% of global oil trade and about 20% of liquefied natural gas pass.

Then, later, the US administration indicated an effective cessation of the use of large-scale military force against Tehran, and a move to attempts to strangle it economically through sanctions and the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.
