The US State Department expressed its denunciation of referring a complaint filed against the Lebanese Ambassador to Washington, Nada Hamada Moawad, to the Lebanese military judiciary, considering that persecuting her for implementing the policy of her legitimate government and participating in negotiations led by the United States is “dissatisfying.”

A US State Department spokesman said in statements to Al Arabiya that Washington is aware of the complaint filed by a lawyer loyal to Hezbollah against the Lebanese ambassador to the United States.

The spokesman added: "It is displeasing for a military court to consider a complaint against the Lebanese ambassador in Washington for implementing the policy of her legitimate government and participating in negotiations led by the United States."

The US State Department stressed the need for the Lebanese military judiciary to direct its limited resources towards prosecuting Hezbollah members who conspire against the Lebanese government and people, instead of prosecuting people who work for them.

The spokesman said, "The Lebanese military judiciary should employ its limited resources to pursue Hezbollah members who conspire against the government and people in Lebanon, instead of prosecuting those who work for them."

The US State Department called for the abolition of laws and practices that allow what it described as the political targeting of civilians and diplomats in Lebanon.

The spokesman added that the laws and practices that allow this type of politicized targeting must be abolished, while providing, according to the statement, “systematic protection for Hezbollah members.”

The US State Department concluded its position by emphasizing that Washington no longer has “any patience for such obstruction.”
