“Without geographical restrictions.” Iran’s Supreme Leader issues orders to respond to any new threat

- Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued orders to respond “without geographical restrictions” to any new threat, during a meeting with senior military leaders. In a statement published on Saturday through Khamenei’s official platforms, he ordered the armed forces to update their target database, “so that all types of American and Israeli assets, whether tangible or intangible, are within the scope of targeting.”

Khamenei was quoted as saying: “If enemies launch military or terrorist attacks again, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people will determine when these attacks end, and under what conditions.” Fears of renewed conflict between Iran and the United States are increasing, as US President Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of taking new measures following next week's midterm elections, something that will almost certainly require an Iranian response.

Khamenei has not appeared in public until now, since he was appointed to his position following the killing of his father at the beginning of the conflict earlier this year. Since then, Khamenei has issued a number of messages, the latest of which appears to show him more clearly as an effective leader issuing military orders.
