The Red Sea Film Foundation records its largest attendance to date at the Busan International Film Festival, with a record participation of 10 supported films as part of this year's festival program.
The list of participating works includes the film "Benimana" by director Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo, supported by the Red Sea Fund and the Red Sea Market, and "Wild Oak Tree Dreams" by director Marjan Khosravi, and "Four Seasons in Java" by director Kamila Andini, while the film "Unknown Girl" by director Zou Jing participates with support from the Red Sea Market.
The list also includes "Hearing" by director Lê Bảo, "Parallel Tales" by director Asghar Farhadi, "Rhea" by director Arvin Belarmino, "Salvation" by director Emin Alper, "Selfie" by director Sailesh Rathnakumar, in addition to "The Violinist" by directors Ervin Han and Raúl García, all supported by the Red Sea Fund.
The foundation's presence in Busan extends to the Asian content and film market, where the Red Sea Fund offers an award for one of the selected projects, as part of its efforts to support filmmakers, empower promising projects, and expand collaboration opportunities among cinema professionals at the international level.
In conjunction with the institution's presence in the market and its participation in specialized professional discussions about film project financing and supporting filmmakers, the director of the Red Sea Fund initiatives, Mai Al-Shaibani, is participating in the session "Film Funds Talk," alongside several representatives of film funds in Asia, to discuss the role of financing in supporting filmmakers and assisting promising film projects to move from development stages to execution.
The participation of the ten films marks a record for the Red Sea Film Foundation at the Busan Festival, as its participation this year combines the presence of supported works in the festival program, contributions to the Asian content and film market, as well as participation in professional discussions related to financing the film industry and developing its projects.
