A Houthi missile targets an Aramco building in Riyadh... and the Saudi Ministry of Energy comments

A missile targeted a multi-storey building belonging to the giant oil company Aramco in the financial district of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Sunday, according to the testimonies of a number of witnesses and video clips that were geographically located. The strike targeting King Abdullah Financial City was announced after the Saudi Civil Defense issued an early alert about a potential threat to the city.

Video clips circulating on social media, verified by the Ufaq News network, show damage to the upper floors of the Aramco building. The Saudi Ministry of Energy announced, on Sunday, that one of the administrative buildings belonging to Aramco was subjected to a targeting attempt, which resulted in shrapnel falling on the building and causing limited damage to it, without any injuries or deaths recorded.

A source in the ministry explained that the competent authorities began dealing with the incident and taking the necessary measures. On the other hand, one of the witnesses stated that he saw ambulances heading towards the site.

Ofoq News Network contacted the Saudi Ministry of Information via email to obtain more details. The Houthis, who have launched missiles and drones at numerous targets across Saudi Arabia over the past three months, have not yet claimed responsibility for these attacks.

Multiple powerful explosions were heard in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, early Sunday. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed two cruise missiles in Riyadh and the southern region.

Coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki previously wrote in a post on the “X” Twitter platform that the air defenses “also intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards Riyadh.” The missile attacks on Riyadh came a day after the Houthi-run Ministry of Health announced that “Saudi air strikes” had killed at least 33 people near the capital, Sanaa, including women and children.

Last month, 13 people were killed in a missile attack targeting Riyadh International Airport, and several other people were killed in other strikes on the airport. The Houthis had confirmed that they would continue to fire missiles and drones towards Saudi Arabia as long as the Kingdom continued to launch air strikes on the areas under their control in Yemen and impose a siege on their lands.

The Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia on Sunday included Riyadh and the eastern and southern regions. The Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel published, through its account on the “X” platform, statistics of the Houthi attacks on the Kingdom during the last period, which included 1,151 ballistic missiles and 1,191 drones.
