News reports indicated that American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner may head to Moscow during the next two weeks, as part of American efforts to reach an agreement to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, according to what Reuters reported, on Saturday, from the Russian "TASS" agency.

TASS quoted an unnamed source confirming that there is a possibility of holding a visit, explaining that its details will be subject to coordination, without announcing a specific date or program for the discussions. Witkoff and Kushner play a key role in President Donald Trump's administration's efforts to mediate between Moscow and Kiev.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Friday that the American envoys are welcome in Moscow, and that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet them. He added that his country is ready to listen to the ideas and proposals that the two negotiators are discussing with the Ukrainian side in the United States, if they decide to present them to the Russian leadership.

The possible visit comes after talks held by Witkoff and Kushner in Miami, on Friday, with Ukrainian and European officials, to discuss new proposals to settle the conflict.

According to a previous report by Axios, which quoted a well-informed American official, the talks focused on completing the security guarantees that the United States, Europe, and NATO could provide to Ukraine as part of an agreement to end the war, in addition to putting forward proposals on regional issues.

Participants also discussed a post-war package that includes financing reconstruction, rebuilding the Ukrainian army, and addressing the budget deficit, as well as the path to Ukraine's accession to the European Union and the nature of its future relationship with NATO.

Discussions also included the possibility of establishing a security framework between Europe and Russia after the war, in an attempt to find arrangements that could be acceptable to both parties.

However, these efforts coincided with a dispute between Washington and Kiev, after Trump announced an agreement with Putin to supply Russian diesel to the American and global markets, which was criticized by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, considering that it provided Moscow a gain during the war.

According to the story reported by Axios from the American official, Trump's decision came after Kiev ignored repeated requests to stop targeting Russian oil refineries, due to the repercussions of those attacks on fuel prices. On the other hand, Zelensky expressed his willingness to stop attacks on refineries if Russia stops its strikes on Ukrainian power plants.

Trump and Putin discussed the energy issue and settling the dispute during a phone call on Friday. But Moscow did not set a date for the resumption of negotiations with Kiev, as Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov said that the Ukrainian attacks on Russian cities hindered their immediate resumption, and that Putin informed the American side that his country would study the timing of returning to the talks.
