Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - The head of the Israeli Yashar Party, Gadi Eisenkot, pledged to remove the Hamas movement from power in the Gaza Strip and destroy its military wing within 18 months of assuming the presidency of the government, attacking the policy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and demanding the formation of an official investigation committee into the events of October 7.
Eisenkot said during a statement he made on the Gaza Strip border that he would work to end Hamas’ rule in the Strip, whether by implementing US President Donald Trump’s plan approved by the Netanyahu government, or by using Israeli military and operational capabilities.
Eisenkot accused Netanyahu of contributing to the continued rule of Hamas, considering that his remaining in power means the movement's continued rule. He also criticized what he described as his submission to pressure from his partners in the government coalition and those evading military service. According to him
Eizenkot pointed out that there is a gap, as he put it, between the achievements of the Israeli forces on the ground and Netanyahu’s failure to achieve the goals he announced in Iran, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip.
He called for a comprehensive review of the security and military failures and the formation of an official investigation committee into the events of October 7, in addition to developing a national strategy and applying the lessons learned to prevent the recurrence of failures.
He stressed that the formation of the investigation committee represents, according to him, an urgent security necessity, pointing out that he possesses the necessary experience to lead the Israeli army and the Mossad and Shin Bet agencies.
