Through these initiatives, the two sides aim to strengthen the infrastructure for clinical studies, create an attractive and stimulating regulatory environment for research, accelerate the implementation of clinical trials, in addition to developing regulatory and legislative frameworks that enable innovation, and accelerate the pace of developing modern medicines and treatments in accordance with the highest international standards.

For his part, the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Professor Dr. Hisham Al-Jadhaie, said during the launch ceremony of the initiatives that the partnership between the Authority and the Institute, along with the rest of the partners in the health system and outside it, contributed to achieving a noticeable increase in the number of clinical studies in the Kingdom.

He stressed that the initiatives that were launched represent a fundamental pillar in the growth process of this vital field, and enhancing its impact on the development of the national health system, pointing to the importance of integrating efforts to achieve strategic goals in the field of research and innovation, which contributes to the prosperity of the pharmaceutical industries and accelerating the arrival of therapeutic innovations to patients and beneficiaries.

For his part, the CEO of the Institute, Dr. Faris Al-Anazi, praised the Kingdom’s rapid growth in the health research and innovation system, especially in the field of clinical trials, stressing that the effective partnership with the Food and Drug Authority and the relevant authorities has contributed to strengthening the health research environment, and enabling the research sector and national competencies to actively participate in this growing movement.

In the same context, he pointed out that these efforts support the development of the clinical trials system and consolidate the Kingdom’s position in this field.

These initiatives come as a result of cooperation between the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and the National Institute for Health Research, which contributes to achieving common strategic goals, enhancing the growth of the health research and innovation sector, and supporting the Kingdom’s trends towards building a knowledge economy, in line with the goals of the Health Sector Transformation Program, one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030.
