(Ofoq News - Former Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim warned on Monday of what he called electronic flies on social media, saying that governments and intelligence services support him to spread “poison” and harm Gulf relations. Hamad bin Jassim wrote on his account on the X platform: “I read with interest what His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid wrote, and I agree with everything he said about what brings the Gulf states together in terms of social and cultural factors, a single geography, a common history, and what they have achieved.” These countries have achieved economic, developmental and cultural successes compared to other countries in their surroundings.”
He continued: "I also agree with what His Highness warned about the dangers of improper use of social media and the harm and harm it could cause to the relations between our countries and our peoples." He added: “I have previously warned against this many times in 2017 and beyond.
I always said that the electronic flies that spread their poison in our Gulf space are supported by governments and intelligence agencies in some countries.” He also pointed out that “unless our countries work hard to prevent and stop the spread of this malicious disease, it will be one of the reasons that destroy any ambition to strengthen sound and fraternal relations between the Gulf countries.”
This requires thoughtful and urgent government decisions that are applied and implemented without delay or courtesy.” Hamad bin Jassim stated that “disagreements occur between countries,” noting that “they must be resolved through dialogue and calm diplomatic treatment, in a way that also allows for limits of difference in orientations without this causing hostility between the GCC countries.”
He continued his speech by saying: “I wanted to praise what His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid wrote, and to point out that the coming days are important, and require our attention, vigilance and caution, and for officials and political decision-makers to be as responsible as required in these critical circumstances that the region is experiencing.” He also added: "Unfortunately, there are no friendships, or what we used to consider them to be friendships. Rather, there are now interests, and interests must not be paid for in advance before they are determined and the parties agree to exchange them first."
Earlier Monday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, sent a message to the citizens of the Gulf states, in which he called on them to adhere to unity despite difference and diversity, and warned against being separated by the media and social media sites and those he described as “those with narrow agendas and sick souls.” Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid wrote in a post on his official account on the “X” platform, in his book entitled “Messages”: “A message to the people of the Gulf, a message to the most beautiful dream... and he added: “A message to the one sea that brings us together...
It is noteworthy that the Gulf countries are currently suffering from the consequences of the ongoing war between the United States and Iran, which is witnessing a period of calm, despite the continuing incidents involving ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Gulf countries have been subjected to Iranian attacks, while the Yemeni front is witnessing an escalation between the Houthis, supported by Iran, and government forces supported by Saudi Arabia, and the Kingdom has been facing attacks with drones and ballistic missiles in recent weeks.
