Hezbollah talks about an Iranian request not to participate in any future war

Amid Iranian anticipation of the possibility of the United States and Israel launching new strikes on sites inside Iran, sources close to Hezbollah revealed that Tehran informed the party of its unwillingness to participate in any future war.

The sources also explained to Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath on Tuesday that Iran “does not need anyone to support it in any potential war because it has the necessary capabilities,” she said.

Sources close to Hezbollah confirmed that "the Iranians did not ask the party to participate in any future war."

But she pointed out that "Hezbollah will not remain idle if Israel crosses the lines of the current reality."

In addition, the sources quoted Hezbollah as saying that “its participation in the second support war (in reference to the opening of the southern Lebanese front last March in response to the assassination of Iranian guide Ali Khamenei) produced basic results, most notably the Islamabad Agreement, which led to reducing the escalation and restricting the rules of engagement to the south, and this in itself is an achievement,” according to his claim.

Hezbollah also considered that "if the Lebanese authority had dealt openly with Islamabad's path, we would have reached a comprehensive ceasefire."

The sources concluded by stressing that "the party is in the position of reacting to the Israeli attacks."

Yesterday, Lebanese security officials spoke about Hezbollah's efforts over the past three years to prepare for the possibility of a resumption of hostilities with Israel after it received cash funding from Iran. Two Lebanese security sources said that the party took advantage of the lull in hostilities since June to rearm, focusing on purchasing explosives and producing drones that can be directed towards Israeli sites, according to Reuters.

One of the sources, and another source close to Hezbollah, also revealed that the latter received tens of millions of dollars from Tehran to help strengthen its military capabilities. One of these two sources and three other security officials familiar with Hezbollah's operations stated that it is working to rebuild the command and control structures that collapsed during the battles with Israel.

It is noteworthy that Hezbollah, which was founded by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in 1982, was subjected to severe blows in two wars with Israel since 2024, which claimed the lives of thousands of fighters and many of its leaders and destroyed a large part of its arsenal.

The renewal of the war last March, after Hezbollah launched missiles towards northern Israel, in response to the assassination of Khamenei, led to Israeli forces renewing their raids on southern Lebanon, bulldozing dozens of villages, as well as occupying a series of towns on the border strip.
