Israel: An American company enters Gaza to map and destroy Hamas weapons

Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Israel allowed an American company, working on behalf of the Peace Council, to enter the southern Gaza Strip in the coming days, with the aim of searching for specific sites and preparing maps of them, in preparation for handing over weapons to Hamas and destroying them.

The Israeli Kan channel reported that this step is one of the main milestones in US President Donald Trump's peace plan, which stipulates that Hamas will give up its weapons and demilitarize the Gaza Strip.

According to the plan, members of the American team will enter the southern Gaza Strip in the Rafah and Khan Yunis areas, which are two areas under Israeli control, and then they will conduct field inspections to determine the locations of the compounds that will ensure safe access of Gaza militants to those compounds with some form of protection by the Israeli army.

According to the Peace Council's plan, Israel will not begin a gradual withdrawal from the empty areas until Hamas lays down its weapons, with responsibility for the area being transferred to a committee of technocrats. At this stage, the delivery mechanism and how the militants will be able to move in Gaza without posing a threat to the occupation army have not yet been determined.

A senior security source told Haaretz this evening that the Americans are putting intense pressure on Israel to go ahead with the plan, even though Israel is pessimistic about the success of the plan, and that although Hamas has publicly stated that it intends to give up weapons, Hamas is in fact restoring its authority in the Gaza Strip.
