Israeli official: Netanyahu does not rule out launching a strike against Iran

Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Maariv newspaper quoted an Israeli military official as saying that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not rule out launching a strike against Iran, in light of the intense preparations that Israel witnessed during the past week in anticipation of the possibility of escalation or the outbreak of a comprehensive confrontation between the two sides.

The official criticized what he described as the conflict of American positions, saying that Washington sometimes seems headed toward launching an attack on Iran, before US President Donald Trump announced the next day that he would not attack it before the midterm congressional elections next November.

Despite the Israeli preparations, the official indicated that the Israeli army is not currently preparing to carry out a pre-emptive strike against Iran, at a time when the potential for escalation still exists.
