Legislative elections are a thing of the past

Perhaps there are those who view the legislative elections as a renewal of legitimacy or to restore their status to normal in the Palestinian political system, but the elections have become a decision of President Abu Mazen and issuing a decree on their date and issuing a decree to cancel or postpone them. The goal is one and the same, which is not to hold the legislative elections, and the legislative elections will not be held by a European or American decision because the decision is taken far from the concept of democracy in civilized countries and peaceful alternation of power, and the 2006 elections were a model in that they led the Palestinian people. To division and non-acceptance of others.
Here the central question arises
Was there really a decision to hold legislative elections? Is it possible to hold legislative elections in the face of this Palestinian scene in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem? Can the Fatah movement accept to hold legislative elections when it is divided into three Fatah factions in addition to the Fatah blocs that want change? Does Hamas accept holding legislative elections while it is outside the Palestinian political system and the regional system?
It seems that all the rounds of dialogue in Algeria, Moscow, and Beijing were for the sake of “raising the blame for each party,” but in reality they hide the complete discrepancy and difference in strategies and behavior, and now talk has begun about the Cairo Dialogue, giving the dialogue a chance, and postponing the elections.
With an objective reading of the upcoming dialogue...there is no basis for a meeting between the brothers, as the causes of division are still present, and everyone does not see the presence of the other as a political partnership. Therefore, the surprise was “the agreement of all the factions to postpone the elections because all the factions do not see the elections as a way out of their political and leadership crisis.”
Before writing this article, I watched a press conference by one of the members of the Executive Committee, where he was talking about a working paper and the like, and a question to the member of the Executive Committee: How much do you and others own in the Palestinian political decision-making process? Therefore, postponing the elections was for the benefit of the factions and not for the sake of renewing legitimacy.
Renewing legitimacy has become an outdated political-legislative system, and perhaps there are those who ask: What is the solution? And what is the alternative?
The legislative elections have become part of the Palestinian dream because the Palestinian political, social, and security situation has become part of the Arab regional system, and therefore the elections will restore the Palestinian-Palestinian division in various forms at the level of the family, the clan, the tribe, and at the level of the organization itself, which failed even to choose its candidates for the legislative elections. Therefore, the legislative elections have become a thing of the past, and the Palestinian political situation will remain as it is.
As for the solution and alternative, it focuses on the understandings of the Palestinian factions and figures to develop a plan for the olive season and how to reach the olive farms. Perhaps it will be agreed upon much easier than the decision of the legislative elections.
The decision to rebuild Gaza, confront the orgy of settlers, and prepare for the next stage after the Israeli elections is much more important than the legislative elections, which will not be held in the near term because the decision on the elections is in the hands of President Abu Mazen and not in the hands of the Palestinian factions.
