- Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin and his Real Madrid teammates defeated Barcelona, two goals to one, in a match hosted by the Spotify Camp Nou stadium, on Sunday, at the top of the matches of the tenth round of LaLiga. Lunin gave a high performance during El Clásico, as he kept the danger away from his goal on more than one opportunity for the benefit of the opponent.
Andrey Lunin surprisingly participated in the match, after the absence of the “Merengue” main goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, due to illness. After the final whistle, Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho went towards Lunin, then shook his hand, hugged him and spoke to him, celebrating together the victory.
Mourinho praised the Ukrainian goalkeeper, telling reporters: “Lunin was incredible, and no one asked me about him. I’m sure you would have done that if we had lost.” The Portuguese coach added: “I told Lunin: You train to play, not to stay on the bench.”
