Elon Musk, the billionaire ally of US President Donald Trump, threatened Democrats who threaten to open corruption investigations, including his role within the US government, if they regain control of Congress after next month's elections.
“He who lives by the sword will die by the sword,” Musk wrote on the X platform, which he owns, yesterday, Wednesday, in response to a Politico report about Democrats’ plans to investigate his activities if they win the midterm elections.
Musk also added on the platform that he regularly uses to promote conspiracy theories, “Those who choose to fight battles with me must realize that I will reveal who is actually pulling the strings, and I will go after them, not just their puppets that they use.”
Musk, the first person in the United States whose fortune reaches one trillion dollars, is one of the major financiers of the Republican Party to which Trump belongs. He also works as a permanent advisor to the president and benefits from government contracts through his SpaceX empire.
He also controls Tesla, the leading electric car manufacturer.
Republicans currently control the Senate and House of Representatives, but expectations indicate that the Democrats may regain control of the House of Representatives on November 3.
This would give Democrats control over investigative committees with broad powers, including the ability to compel people to testify, putting Musk in their crosshairs with regard to these investigations.
