Not Mbappe's loss... Mourinho reveals the thing that surprised him at the Ballon d'Or ceremony

- Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid's coach, said that Kylian Mbappe is "unique" despite losing the Ballon d'Or for the best footballer in 2026. Englishman Harry Kane won the Ballon d'Or award, beating Mbappe, Lamine Yamal and other candidates.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe's teammate in the "Merengue" team, Jude Bellingham, ranked 11th on the Ballon d'Or rankings. Mourinho said in a press conference: “I was honored to work with Kane, and he is a great player. He is a great professional and a great person. Although I am disappointed that my players did not win (the Ballon d’Or), I am frankly happy for him. At 32 years old, he deserves some joy.”

He added: "On the other hand, I think that Mbappe is Mbappe. He is unique. Although we see a Ballon d'Or winner every season, some of them have won it more than once, there is only one winner every year, but there is only one top scorer in the history of the World Cup. It is truly unique." Jose Mourinho explained: “What really surprised me in the voting was that Bellingham ranked eleventh. No comment.”
