Plastic shoes without socks... A Swedish actor catches the eye in London

Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård caught attention with an unconventional look while attending the screening of his film “Wicker” at the London Film Festival, as he combined a golden suit from the French house Saint Laurent with transparent shoes, in a design that moved away from the traditional shape of men’s shoes. Skarsgård wore a golden suit, without a shirt under the jacket, and coordinated it with transparent shoes made of PVC, distinguished by its pointed toe and front laces.

The shoe had previously appeared in Saint Laurent's men's spring/summer 2027 collection, before moving from the catwalk to the red carpet. Its design raised questions about its practicality, especially when worn without socks, in light of the challenges that heat and humidity may cause when using this type of shoe.

The Swedish actor's bold choices are not limited to transparent shoes; He had previously adopted striking designs at artistic events, including long leather boots that reached the top of the thigh. He appeared at the Valentino show during Paris Fashion Week this year with a look that combined a leopard-print coat, a light pink shirt, and purple sports pants, in a coordination that relied on the contrast between patterns, colors, and cuts, far from the traditional templates of men’s fashion.

Are the rules of shoes on the red carpet changing? The trend towards designs that expose the feet is not limited to Saint Laurent, as Skarsgård’s shoes have revived interest in unconventional forms of shoes, including the “barefoot” sandal that caught attention during the Chanel Cruise show in the French city of Biarritz.

American actress Margaret Qualley appeared wearing these shoes during the premiere of the movie The Dog Stars in the British capital, London.
