Sheikh: We are committed to holding the presidential and legislative elections simultaneously, and we demand that the necessary conditions be provided for them to be held

Ramallah - Ofoq News - Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Al-Sheikh, said that we affirm our full commitment to implementing the Basic Law and the part related to holding general elections, out of our belief in pluralism and the transfer of power through peaceful means, and the renewal of leadership and its legitimacy through one path, which is the ballot box.

The Sheikh called on the international community to put pressure on the occupation authorities to create a climate that would help hold these elections in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, to stop all repressive and terrorist measures by the occupation army and its settlers, to lift more than a thousand barriers that turned the West Bank into ghettos and detention cantons for an entire people, to stop their crimes in the Gaza Strip, and to return our money stolen by Israeli piracy.

He said: “We pledge to advance the date for holding the presidential and legislative elections simultaneously and interconnected as soon as appropriate conditions exist that guarantee the integrity, transparency and credibility of the electoral process.

He added: "The elections are not a formal show, but rather a fundamental issue that expresses the will of a people that must be exercised with a minimum of dignity and independence."

The Sheikh affirmed the commitment to the comprehensive Palestinian national dialogue, with the participation of all factions and political forces, and in a spirit of responsibility and partnership, to strengthen national unity and the steadfastness of our people on the land of his homeland, and to agree to create the necessary conditions for holding general elections in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
