Bethlehem - Ofoq News - A signing ceremony of strategic academic partnership agreements took place in the Italian capital, Rome, between the Universities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem and the Italian Sapienza University of Rome, including the establishment of the Hammad Al-Harazin College of Technology and Artificial Intelligence at Al-Quds University, and the Hammad Al-Harazin College of Applied Sciences, Technology and Engineering at the University of Bethlehem, with support from businessman Hammad Al-Harazin through the “Khair” Foundation, which he heads.
In addition to the establishment of the two modern colleges at the Universities of Bethlehem and Jerusalem, the agreement allows students from the two colleges to obtain accredited certificates from the Sapienza University of Rome upon their graduation.
This came in the presence of the Minister of Education and Higher Education, A. D. Amjad Barham, businessman Hammad Al-Harazin, Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, and member of the Fatah Central Committee, Dr. Laila Ghanem, the Palestinian Ambassador to the Vatican, Issa Qassisiyeh, and Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, and Dr. Sameh Hajjah, and the Presidents of the Universities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem, A. D. Imad Abu Kishk, and Dr. Hernan Santos, Antonella Polimini, President of the Italian Sapienza University of Rome, and the journalist Dr. Nasser Al-Laham.
In this context, Minister Barham stressed that this agreement represents the actual launch of the two distinguished colleges at Al-Quds University and Bethlehem University, offering his thanks and appreciation to the businessman Al-Harazin for his support and continuous contribution to establishing educational institutions in Palestine, whether through gifted schools or university colleges, pointing out that Al-Harazin promised to build a modern college and a group of schools in the Gaza Strip.
Barham said that this generous donation confirms the interest of businessman Al-Harazin in supporting the public and higher education sectors in Palestine, noting that preparations have been completed to build a number of schools with a donation from Al-Harazin.
The Minister also thanked everyone who contributed to the support and coordination for the establishment of the two colleges at the Universities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem, which contributes to the graduation of competencies needed by the Palestinian market. He congratulated the Universities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem for this qualitative addition that serves the two universities and the Palestinian community in general.
He pointed out that this agreement comes under exceptionally difficult circumstances and major challenges facing the education sector in Palestine, including the demolition and destruction of universities in the Gaza Strip, and attacks on educational institutions in the West Bank.
Barham stressed that such achievements confirm the Palestinians’ adherence to the choice of education, and the continuation of construction and development despite all the conditions that the occupation is trying to impose in an attempt to ignore the Palestinian people and confiscate their right to life and education.
