The 2019 Asian Cup champion coaches the Bahrain national team
The Bahrain Football Association announced, on Monday, the appointment of Spaniard Felix Sanchez as coach of the first national team. The Bahrain Football Association said that Sanchez was chosen to take over the technical duties based on his “distinguished CV and long career on the continent and internationally,” and that he will begin his work during the waiting period.

The Bahrain Football Association announced, on Monday, the appointment of Spaniard Felix Sanchez as coach of the first national team. The Bahrain Football Association said that Sanchez was chosen to take over the technical duties based on his “distinguished CV and long continental and international career,” and that he will begin his work during the international break next November.
Felix Sanchez previously led the Qatar men's national team to win the 2019 Asian Cup, and the under-19 team to win the 2014 Asian title. Sanchez also supervised the "Al Annabi" team in the Copa America and the 2022 World Cup, which Qatar hosted.
The 50-year-old coached the Ecuadorian national team between March 2023 and July 2024. It should be noted that the Bahraini Federation parted ways with Croatian coach Dragan Talajic, following the team’s elimination from the first round in “Gulf 27.”
