In what appears to be an attempt to calm the resentment of many Iranians over the poor economic and living conditions, the Political Assistant of the Revolutionary Guard, Major General Yadollah Javani, considered that US President Donald Trump is also under internal pressure due to the war.
Javani said on Tuesday: “Trump is now under pressure due to the repercussions of this war inside the United States more than ever before. Therefore, it should not be believed that the state of no war and no peace imposes costs on the Iranian people alone,” according to what was reported by Tasnim News Agency.
He also claimed that the United States "incurs huge costs from imposing the naval blockade." He added, "The closure of the Strait of Hormuz led to pressure on the financial and energy markets, and the effects of this have now appeared in the American economy as well."
In addition, he pointed out that “public opinion in the United States today faces severe pressure as a result of the crises and inflation resulting from the war, which has led to increasing dissatisfaction with the war they launched against Iran,” as he put it.
He believed that the American side "is seeking to end this situation, but it is not ready to admit defeat easily, and is trying, by continuing pressure and sanctions, and perhaps undertaking new military measures and movements, to change the circumstances of the war in its favor." He concluded by stressing that "Iran is ready to respond to any new military action decisively and more forcefully," according to his description.
Trump, in turn, indicated yesterday, Monday, that Tehran wants to conclude an agreement, but does not know how. He reiterated that its economic situation is deteriorating and its naval and military capabilities have been almost completely destroyed.
He also stressed that the American blockade on Iranian ports continues, while sanctions continue to be imposed.
Since the outbreak of war between the two countries on February 29, the value of the Iranian currency has declined significantly against the dollar, and the high prices and prices of many consumer items have worsened.
While the American naval blockade strangled Iranian oil ships, preventing their movement in the Strait of Hormuz, which exacerbated the already bad economic situation and increased Iranians’ resentment and restlessness regarding the living situation.
