Salfit - Ofoq News - Today, Friday, the Israeli occupation forces arrested two brothers while they were picking olives in the Wadi Qana area, west of the town of Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit, while tear gas bombs were fired at the olive pickers in the northern area of the city of Salfit, and forced them to leave their agricultural lands.
Activist Nazmi Salman reported that the occupation forces arrested the two brothers, Sohrab and Moti’ Wadih Salman, while they were on their agricultural lands in the Wadi Qana area, west of Deir Istiya, during the olive harvest season, and took them to an unknown destination.
In a related context, the occupation forces fired tear gas bombs at farmers and olive pickers in the northern area of the city of Salfit, forcing them to leave their agricultural lands, in light of the continued restrictions to which they are exposed during the season.
The attacks and measures that impede farmers’ access to their lands and harvesting the olive crop continue in the towns and villages of Salfit Governorate, exacerbating their suffering and threatening the livelihood of many Palestinian families, at a time when the olive season constitutes an essential source of income and a deep-rooted connection to the land.
