Three prisoners in "Janot" prison suffer as a result of deliberate medical negligence

Ramallah - Ofoq News - The conditions of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons are worsening, under harsh conditions of detention, the spread of diseases, and a lack of health care, in clear violation of international conventions and laws that guarantee the rights and protection of prisoners.

The Prisoners and Ex-Detainees Affairs Authority revealed, in a report issued today, Sunday, after its lawyer’s visit to the “Janot” detention center, the medical condition of prisoner Hail Dhaif Allah (60 years old), from the town of Rafat/Ramallah, who suffers from pain and broken teeth as a result of the assault on him by the occupation forces after his arrest, which led to some of them being broken. He also complains of being afflicted with “Scabius” disease, and the prison administration deliberately neglects him medically and does not provide him with any medical care. What kind of treatment?

Meanwhile, the two prisoners, Uday and Ammar Jamal Anbas, from the town of Dhanaba, Tulkarm District, face difficult detention conditions in conjunction with the difficult health situation in light of the continued shortage of food and deliberate medical neglect in Janot Prison.

Prisoner Uday Jamal Anbes (35 years old), who has been detained since May 25, 2025, suffers from a difficult health condition, as a result of serious injuries he suffered before his arrest, while a bullet fragment is still lodged in his lungs, causing him severe pain. He needs to visit the so-called prison “clinic” and have an x-ray taken, but the prison administration deliberately neglects him medically in terms of treatment and examinations.

Regarding the conditions of detention, prisoner Uday is languishing in Raymond Prison, where the quantity and quality of food are still poor, and going out to “Al-Fura” does not exceed one hour per day as a maximum.

In the same context, prisoner Ammar Jamal Anbes (38 years old), who has been detained since January 21, 2016 and sentenced to 24 years in prison, faces difficult living and health conditions inside Nafha prison, where food quantities are still very small. This was reflected in the weight of the prisoner, who lost about 17 kilograms from the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip until the date of the visit.

Prisoner Jamal suffers from pain in the knees and lower back, which increases in severity during cold days, and the prison administration refuses to give him the medicine for his condition or even any other type of painkiller, and the duration of the flare-up does not exceed twenty minutes maximum.

At the conclusion of its statement, the Commission noted that “the occupation authorities are detaining approximately (5,000) prisoners inside their prisons who suffer from diseases of varying degrees, and there are those who need follow-up and intensive health care for their condition. The Commission called on international legal and humanitarian institutions to intervene immediately and urgently to save the lives of prisoners, especially those who are sick, especially those with incurable conditions.”
