US President Donald Trump announced on Friday the appointment of Katie Zacharias as the new White House Press Secretary, succeeding Carolyn Levitt, who left the position in August.
Trump wrote on his “Truth Social” platform: “It is a great honor for me to have just appointed Katie Zacharias to the position of Press Secretary (of the White House),” expressing his confidence that she “will achieve strong results for our country.”
He also noted that Zacharias briefly worked as a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, and appeared as a commentator on Fox News and Newsmax.
He also praised Zakaria, describing her as his "loyal supporter" and who participated in his election campaigns.
While he thanked Levitt, whom he described as “wonderful,” saying that she had done an “excellent job” as White House spokeswoman.
Zacharias currently serves as a senior communications advisor at Trump Media and Technology Group, which operates the Truth Social platform.
