- On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump commemorated the third anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, pledging to "never forget the victims" and reviewing "his efforts to bring the hostages home." Trump stated in a post on his platform, Truth Social: "Three years ago today, on October 7, the world witnessed one of the darkest and most evil days in Israel's history, where innocent men, women, and children were killed, kidnapped, and subjected to unimaginable horrors at the hands of Hamas terrorists.",
He added: "Today, we remember every innocent soul that was lost, honor the survivors and their families, and recall the hostages who suffered unimaginable things. I have tirelessly fought to bring the hostages home and reunite them with their loved ones, and I have succeeded in that, whether for the living or the dead." On Wednesday, Trump told reporters before leaving the White House that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to express his support for the Israeli people.
Trump said: "I spoke with Bibi Netanyahu and wished him and the Israeli people all the best; it was a horrific day," adding: "And now, the other side is paying a very heavy price for what they did on October 7."
