Trump's envoy does not rule out striking Iran over the weekend... and reports of an imminent American attack

Washington - Ofoq News - The American envoy to the Middle East, Tom Barrack, did not rule out carrying out an American attack on Iran over the weekend, in light of escalating tensions and continued talk about the diplomatic track between Washington and Tehran.

According to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, Barak responded positively when asked whether the attack might occur over the weekend, saying: “Certainly.” But at the same time, he stressed that US President Donald Trump is still open to reaching an agreement with Iran.

Barak said that Trump is “open to an agreement and available for negotiation,” noting that the talks have been ongoing for months. He added that the direct Iranian nuclear threat, in his estimation, no longer exists, with the nuclear proliferation files and future steps towards Tehran remaining among the issues raised.

In a parallel development, the Iraqi Kurdish channel Channel 8, citing a political source close to the “coordination framework” in Iraq, reported that Washington had informed Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi of a possible attack on Iran in the coming days.

According to the report, Al-Zaidi conveyed this information to leaders in the coordination framework, warning against the intervention of Iraqi armed groups in any confrontation, and indicating that the government would deal with them in accordance with the law if they participated in the escalation.

The Cradle website also reported a similar report about an American informing the Iraqi side of the possibility of carrying out an attack, with warnings of the repercussions of any Iraqi intervention.
