Tehran - Ofoq News - Iran has threatened to target infrastructure in the Gulf countries if its facilities are subjected to attacks, in an escalation that opens the door to expanding the confrontation to include data centers and artificial intelligence facilities, according to what was reported by the Israeli “Srugim” website.
The website quoted Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf as saying that any attack on Iranian infrastructure will be met with attacks on infrastructure in the Gulf.
The website also reported statements attributed to Qalibaf regarding what he described as the need to prevent artificial intelligence and data companies in the region from providing support to parties that Tehran accuses of participating in military operations against it.
This comes amid reports of a possible resumption of military confrontation, and increasing American preparations, which raises concerns about the security of huge technological investments in the Gulf.
These threats are gaining particular importance with the expansion of regional investments in data centers and cloud computing, which constitute an infrastructure for developing artificial intelligence technologies and operating digital services.
