Saudi Arabia affirmed the continuation of its efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Sudan, preserve its unity and territorial integrity, and preserve state institutions and protect them from collapse, during the participation of Deputy Foreign Minister Engineer Walid bin Abdulkarim Al-Khereiji, today, in the sixth consultative meeting on enhancing coordination of peace initiatives and efforts in Sudan, held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Al-Khereiji explained that the Kingdom’s efforts are based on the Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect Civilians, signed on May 11, 2023, and the short-term ceasefire agreement, noting the Kingdom’s support for the initiative of the Five-Year Group and the regional and international efforts aimed at reaching a political solution that preserves Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
He stressed the importance of supporting the Sudanese government in creating a Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue inside Sudan, stressing the rejection of equality between the Sudanese government and the Sovereignty Council and the militias accused of committing crimes against the Sudanese people, and again rejecting parallel entities and illegal procedures outside the official institutions, because of the threat they represent to the unity of Sudan and the will of its people.
On the humanitarian side, Al-Khereiji referred to the Kingdom’s announcement to provide $100 million to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, and the launch of a popular campaign through the “Sahim” platform, pointing out that the total Saudi aid to Sudan exceeded $3.2 billion. He also indicated the provision of additional support worth $145 million within the humanitarian response plan in Sudan for 2026, during the humanitarian coordination meeting on the crisis in Berlin on April 15, 2026.
He stressed that the Kingdom will continue to work to end the war and restore stability in Sudan. The meeting was attended by the Kingdom's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdul Mohsen bin Khathila.
