The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad announced on Sunday the death of an Egyptian citizen and the injury of five others as a result of the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, stressing that it is following up on the procedures for transporting the deceased’s body to Egypt and providing the necessary care for the injured. The Ministry said, in a statement, that it "mourns with great regret the death of Egyptian citizen Azza Ramzi Muhammad Hassan, who lost her life as a result of the attack on King Khalid Airport in Riyadh," expressing its sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased.
She added that, based on the directives of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty issued assignments to the Egyptian embassy and consulate in Riyadh to communicate with the family of the deceased and follow up on the procedures for transporting her body to Egypt as soon as possible. The Ministry explained that Abdel-Ati directed the Egyptian ambassador and consul in Riyadh to visit the five injured Egyptians in hospitals, communicate with their families, and provide them with all necessary care.
She confirmed that the ambassador and consul had already visited the injured and checked on their health condition. The statement indicated that the Egyptian embassy and consulate in Riyadh continue to coordinate with the Saudi authorities, which provide various forms of support to injured Egyptians, whether in terms of medical care or other facilities.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed its "strong condemnation of the continued attacks on the territory of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," stressing its "strong denunciation of these blatant attacks and irresponsible actions and their flagrant violation of the rules of international law and disregard for the safety of civilians of various nationalities." On Sunday, the "Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen" coalition described the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh as a "terrorist act."
The coalition statement said, "The terrorist attack carried out by the Houthi militia on one of the passenger lounges at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and the resulting deaths and injuries among civilian passengers and airport workers, amounts to a full-fledged war crime according to international humanitarian law."
