A young Emirati man's request to obtain financial compensation amounting to 20 thousand dirhams from a girl who accused him of hacking into her electronic accounts and seizing her movables did not bear fruit, after the Al Ain Court of Civil, Commercial and Administrative Claims ruled to reject the case.
The details of the case go back to a report submitted by the girl to the competent authorities, which led to the arrest of the young man, his investigation, and his phone being subjected to technical examination. Although the investigations ended with a decision by the Public Prosecution not to file a criminal case temporarily due to insufficient evidence, the young man resorted to the civil judiciary demanding compensation for the material and moral damages he said he suffered as a result of the accusations and the accompanying procedures.
However, the court found that the lack of sufficient evidence does not necessarily mean that the report was false or that the right to report was abused, stressing that the papers lacked any evidence proving that the girl intentionally harmed him or submitted a report that she knew was incorrect. It ended in rejecting the case and obligating the plaintiff to pay the expenses.
