Gaza - Ofoq News - The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in partnership with the Democracy and Workers’ Rights Center (DWRC), organized an exhibition of local products in the Gaza Strip, on the occasion of International Rural Women’s Day, with the participation of 30 women and young men from small business owners, who displayed various products that included food, handicrafts, embroidery, agricultural products, clothing and accessories.
The exhibition aimed to provide participants with the opportunity to introduce their products and skills, market their work, and highlight the importance of supporting local projects as an essential source of income and a means to enhance the steadfastness of Palestinian families, in light of the severe economic and living challenges taking place in the Gaza Strip.
The exhibition was a space to support individual initiatives and highlight the production and creativity capabilities of women and youth, despite the difficult circumstances that affected livelihoods and job opportunities, thus reinforcing the importance of providing the necessary support to small projects and enabling their owners to continue their productive activities.
This initiative comes within broader efforts aimed at strengthening the capabilities of 120 women and youth, supporting small projects, and expanding income generation opportunities, which contributes to improving livelihoods and enhancing reliance on local production.
The initiative falls within the framework of the Investment Program to Strengthen Resilience, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme, with support from the German government through the German Development Bank, with the aim of strengthening the resilience of the local economy and contributing to the recovery of Palestinian communities in the Gaza Strip.
