Araqchi: Cooperation between Tehran and Moscow is at its highest historical levels

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Tuesday that the rapprochement between Russia and Iran has reached its highest historical levels, after he received his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on his first visit since the outbreak of war in the Middle East at the end of February.

Araqchi wrote on the “X” platform: “Never before in our history have Iran and Russia worked with such rapprochement as they are witnessing today.”

Lavrov arrived in Tehran yesterday, Monday, where he met with his Iranian counterpart, Araghchi, to discuss steps to reduce the escalation in the region. In a joint press conference, the Russian guest confirmed that his country is ready for diplomatic assistance between Iran and America.

Lavrov also added, "We are ready to find an acceptable solution to the crisis between Iran and America." He pointed out that Russia is committed to the strategic cooperation document with the Iranian side.

He also met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who stressed that his country welcomes any initiative that brings together countries of the region in the fields of peace, security, economic development, cultural and scientific cooperation, stressing that achieving sustainable security requires building mutual trust, the participation of countries in the region, and respecting the legitimate interests of all parties.

Lavrov stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic consultations between Tehran and Moscow and taking advantage of the available capabilities to enhance peace and security, noting that the two sides discussed developing political, economic and trade cooperation, in addition to accelerating the implementation of existing agreements and understandings between the two countries.

The Russian Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening regional coordination and protecting common interests, within the framework of strategic relations between Moscow and Tehran.
