- Batman's motorcycle, known as the "Batpod", will be auctioned for cinema collectibles, with an estimated price of up to 900,000 pounds ($1.2 million). This vehicle was used in director Christopher Nolan's films: "The Dark Knight" in 2008, and "The Dark Knight Rises" in 2012 - in which Christian Bale played the role of Batman - and the auction house "Prop Store" is handling its sale.
In a statement to the Ofoq News network on Thursday, Stephen Lin, CEO and founder of Prop Store, said: “It is an absolutely wonderful piece.” Lin stated that the vehicle, known as "The Beast", was designed by Nolan himself in collaboration with production designer Nathan Crowley.
The task of bringing it to reality was then entrusted to Chris Corvold, an Academy Award winner in visual effects. "It's actually an amazing engineering feat," Lin said.
To be able to make this vehicle actually work on set,” he explained, explaining that it is equipped with a 750 cc Honda engine and huge 31-inch tires. He added, “I know that riding it was very difficult for the actors, as well as for the stunt performers who actually drove it.”
Lin said that this bike is one of 6 bikes that were manufactured, but it is the only one that was officially released by Warner Bros. . He added: “Vehicles like this are in great demand due to their unique character and impressive aesthetic appearance.
Arguably one of the most impressive movie vehicles... Bidding opened online on Thursday and will close on December 4th at a public auction in London.
