Gaza - Ofoq News - A scene that summarizes the pain of Gaza and the story of patience in times of war. He is the citizen Hussam Yahya Al-Buhaisi from the village of Al-Zawaida, who lost his leg during the return marches, but he did not lose his will or determination to live.
Today, Yahya stands amid the rubble of his house, which was severely damaged as a result of the targeting of the residential neighborhood in which he lives. He is trying with one leg to lift the stones and clean his house with his hands, as if he is trying to extract what remains of his memories and his family’s dreams from under the rubble.
Citizen Al-Buhaisi says in a painful scene as he lifts the rubble with one foot, “I am trying to remove the rubble and clean my house, despite the difficulty of movement and the harsh conditions, but what should I do? Should I leave my house and my memories under the stones?”
With tears almost falling from his eyes, he added, "My suffering does not stop at the destruction; my economic situation is very difficult, and I have not received my salary allocated as a wounded person since the beginning of the aggression, and I have become unable to provide the simplest needs of life, wondering how can I renovate my house when I do not have the means for a living?"
Yahya's suffering does not stop at injury and destruction. He lives in extremely difficult economic conditions, in light of not receiving his salary allocated as a wounded person since the beginning of the aggression, and finds himself trapped between the pain of injury, the cruelty of poverty, and the bitterness of losing security.
Al-Buhaisi appealed to all people of conscience and humanitarian and relief institutions: to stand by me, help me restore my home and provide for my family’s needs, and to look at the suffering of the wounded who sacrificed their health, and do not leave us facing the tragedy alone. I am not asking for the impossible, but rather I am asking for a decent life and a home that will protect me and my family.”
