After his appearance in a controversial video, the Musicians Syndicate in Egypt decided to ban singer Issam Sasa from singing for 6 months.
The artist, Mostafa Kamel, head of the Egyptian Music Professions Syndicate, announced the suspension of mahraganat singer, Issam Sasa, for a period of 6 months, until the end of the Public Prosecution’s investigations into him regarding his recent appearance in a live broadcast video, while carrying a cigarette suspected of containing narcotic substances.
Mustafa Kamel confirmed that Issam Sasa used to appear on social media and applications such as “Tik Tok” in a way that does not befit the image of the union and its members, explaining that the union council does not interfere in the jurisdiction of the investigating authorities, but stressed its complete rejection of any offensive behavior.
The head of the Musicians Syndicate said that whoever wants to continue as a “blogger” or “Tik Toker” must look for another profession, since the Musical Professions Syndicate is intended for artists and singers only, warning that repeating this behavior will be met with final removal from its membership.
Issam Sasa's crisis dates back several days, after he appeared in a live broadcast clip on the "Tik Tok" application, smoking a cigarette suspected of containing a narcotic substance, which prompted a lawyer to file an official report against him before the Public Prosecution.
The author accused Sasa of committing acts that violate the law and contributing to promoting the crime, calling on the competent authorities to take the necessary measures to verify the incident.
The author called for the singer to be summoned to ask him about the source of the cigarette and the nature of the substance inside it, in addition to examining the circulating video and ensuring that it is authentic and not subject to manipulation or modification using artificial intelligence or montage techniques.
The singer topped the scene in 2024 after he was involved in a run-over accident that resulted in the death of a person at the top of the ring road in Giza Governorate.
Investigations and the results of medical examinations at that time revealed that he had taken the narcotic substance Tramadol, so he was referred to trial and sentenced to 6 months in prison, after reaching a reconciliation with the family of the dead man.
