The Imam Abdulaziz bin Muhammad Royal Reserve Development Authority monitored 19 newborns of fungal creatures in the Imam Abdulaziz bin Muhammad Royal Reserve and King Khalid Royal Reserve during the third quarter of 2026, according to a statement published online on Sunday by the official website of the Saudi Press Agency. These animals included 16 newborns of the Reem antelope, two newborns of the Arabian oryx, and one newborn of the human elk, in a positive indication of the effectiveness of efforts to protect and resettle innate creatures and prepare their natural habitats.
It is worth noting that all of the animals mentioned above are considered endangered. The head of the Wildlife Department at the Authority, Abdul Latif Al-Abdul Wahab, pointed out that recording these births reflects the continuation of the natural reproduction processes of fungal organisms in the two reserves, and the appropriate environments they provide for the reproduction and continuation of species, stressing the importance of protecting natural habitats in supporting the stability of populations of fungal organisms and enhancing biodiversity.
Births were monitored through continuous field follow-up work and surveillance cameras dedicated to monitoring wildlife, which enabled the specialized teams to document breeding cases, follow up on births, and monitor the behavior of species in their natural habitats. These results come as an extension of the Authority’s efforts to protect and resettle wildlife, and develop their natural habitats, which contributes to maintaining environmental balance and the sustainability of ecosystems, and supports the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in protecting the environment and biodiversity.
